Who are these guys?
The band "Idyll Eyes", active in the early
Nineties, consisted of (clockwise from foreground): Paul Turgeon
(Guitar, Sax, Vocals), Dan Carignan (Keyboards, Vocals), Joe Joynt (Drums,
Vocals) and Chad Mazzarella (Bass, Vocals).
|
It all started when a friend, drummer Michael
Alves, introduced me (Paul) to Dan while doing some recordings in my
basement. We formed a three piece band called "Idyll
Hands" using sequenced keyboards to fill the role of a bass
player.

We played our first gig in a VFW hall in Westport
MA. It went well, but lacked the spontaneity of having a totally live
band. My cousin Eddie, who was a guitarist at heart, took over the
bass for a couple of subsequent gigs. Mike eventually left to pursue his
own musical direction, with the band "Burning Circle", and Eddie
went to serve in the Gulf War, but not before introducing me to Chad and
Joe.
In Chad and Joe, Dan and I found just what we
were looking for in band mates..........mild mannered, multi-talented,
energetic instrumentalist/vocalists with a penchant for bizarre songs. |
|
Soon after forming we recorded a couple of cassettes entitled
"Tangled Web" and "Oh, The Pane" (sometimes lovingly
referred to as "The Pain") and played a number of
gigs in Southeastern New England, climaxing with an "Industry
Showcase" at the "Outer Limits" in Quincy, MA. |
